New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE would be conducting the re-eamination for Class 12th Economics paper on April 25, 2018. Following the delay in the end of the examinations for Class 12 students of India, rumours are rife regarding the possibility of the declaration of CBSE Class 10th Results 2018 before the Class 12 results. Though officials have not commented on the possibility, we reached out to the experts who have been associated with CBSE for years. According to them, the possibility of Class 10 Results ahead of Class 12 results was low. Check report.

Experts have pointed out that over the years, the Class 12 examinations have always extended way beyond the class 10 examinations. However, as a rule, and a pattern, the board always declares Class 12 results and then the class 10 results. The primary reason for the same, as per experts, is the logistics and the urgency of the same.

Class 12 students need their results to apply to various higher education institutes. However, for class 10 students, the results are only for internal consumption and sometimes when students wish to change the school or the board. Due to this reason, the board prioritizes the Class 12 results over the class 10 results. The gap, however, is not more than a few days. The board is also known to have released the results within two days of declaring the class 12 results.

“The results for both class 10 and 12 are prepared simultaneously. However, the board releases the results a few days apart to ensure no technical glitches!” points a senior examiner who has worked with CBSE for over 20 years now. Another expert pointed out that the board can release the results simultaneously. The decision to release results on different days is more a matter of habit than anything else. Talking about the probability of expecting the results sooner, the experts believe that the chances are low.

“Re-examination is for around 4 lakh candidates and the evaluation work would be done in about a week or 10 days. The rest of the evaluation work is almost nearing its’ end. Add to the numbers of answer sheets from Punjab, the results may well be released on time,” expressed a Head Examiner who chose not to disclose his identity.

As per the information received and the past trends, CBSE is expected to release the Class 12 Results by May 23 and Class 10 Results 2018 by May 28 this year. These dates are not confirmed. Sources, however, have confirmed that the board is working to ensure that the results are released sooner than usual. In the meanwhile, CBSE Class 12 students of economics would sit for a re-examination following the paper leak on April 25, 2018. The schedule and examination centre details for all the students would remain the same.
